Classic Neutral
Black and White Re-defined
By H. Iacobacci-Miller
Do bright colors make you a nervous wreck? Are you afraid to splash
a vibrant blue on your crisp white walls? Perhaps a black and white
living room is more up your alley.
Remember, there are many shades of white from bright white to creamy
eggnog. To keep your room from feeling stark and sterile, try using
the varying shades of white paired with sleek black furniture. It
will help to give your living room a comfortable and inviting feel.
This living room vignette from Spiegel.com
shows how well whites and black work together. To add splashes
of color, fill ceramic bowls with fruit and fill your vases with
beautiful flowers. A stack of books, believe it or not, is another
way to add color and
interest to a tablescape.
If you want more color, throw
pillows and colored lampshades are a perfect start. Art work
also supplies color to any room. To keep the color scheme
neutral, however, work with the same tones. Find artwork with the
same creamy whites and grays.
There are no rules to follow here; it's your living room and your
home, make it your own!
